Gyo Gyo En: Reviews & Ratings
Fun and cozy restaurant interior. Food was delicious and everything tasted homemade. Slightly higher pricing but worth every penny. Creamy salmon and tuna in the poke. The curry tasted like one I had in Okinawa.
Delicious curry served up by a friendly staff in a cool izakaya-like environment! Their curry is distinctly flavorful.
No doubt Best poke in Seattle ! Gotta try this ! feedback to chef: the tofu bowl , source is way too salty!
Small cozy Japanese style restaurant. Had their curry with soft egg added. Nice affordable place and not too much food. Lovely staff.
Personally my favorite poke place by far. The sauce they use is good without being overpowering. Additionally, the fish has been consistently fresh and not “fishy.” I usually order the half pound of poke with a side of rice since I like to just enjoy the essentials. With the fish and rice both being so fresh, this is my favorite way to enjoy it. There’s really no seating since the shop is so small so takeout is probably better.
The food was amazing! It was rich and frankly I loved every minute of it! There’s very little seating available so it’s best for a quick stop or a flexable take-out option. They had a great selection of snacks and to-go options and it was very filling!
I ordered “5 kinds sashimi”: the salmon, hamachi, and scallops were okay. I did not enjoy the tuna, which was cold in the center and flavorless. The service was friendly and the decor was fun though! I appreciated the cool interior and shaded seats after a hot walk in the city. I would order something different next time, perhaps curry or the poke.
I was visiting Seattle to see some friends and in the interim of wandering this beautiful city alone, I hungrily stumbled upon Gyo Gyo En. The staff are incredibly kind and welcoming, warmly saying hello as soon as I entered and making me feel like I was right at home. Answered any questions I had kindly and served the food very quickly. I got the JFC Curry Katsu and it was AMAZING! I have been to Japan before and also live in an area in the east coast that is well known for their Japanese food and was pleasantly surprised that Seattle performed just as well. I wish I lived nearby so I could have this regularly! A word of caution if you don’t like spicy food, ask for no hot sauce topped on the curry. I love spice and was pleasantly surprised. :) I hope this establishment is here when I visit next year!
